Olympic Weightlifting Has Some Tough Competition

It looks like the national weightlifting team from Armenia is going to stop at nothing to persevere at the upcoming Olympic weightlifting games in Beijing, China.

Gevorg Davtian, who is a 2-time European champion, is one of the dedicated lifters who plans on taking home some of the medals in China. Davtian is also a vice world champion and in 2007 he was voted the best athlete in all of Armenia.

At a recent weightlifting event in Thailand, Davtian was unable to take home the medal. When questioned as to why he performed poorly, he replied that the Thai climate had strange qualities that affected his health during his stay in the country. To see that this does not happen in Beijing, Davtian said that the Armenian team will make their arrival several days before the games begin so that they can get used to the new climate.

In due time, we will see if Davtian and the Armenian team will be able to live up to their claims.
